Knowledge is power! Nashville Children’s Theatre (NCT) presents Schoolhouse Rock Live! – a musical revue containing the catchy educational songs that have taught generations of young people about math, science, history and grammar – Oct. 24 through Dec. 1.
For forty years students, teachers and parents have had fun while learning from the songs of ABC’s “Schoolhouse Rock!” Whether one’s favorite is “Conjunction Junction,” “Interjections,” or “Just A Bill,” young and old will see it, hear it and rock out to it in NCT’s all-new production of this delightful theatrical revue for the whole family. (In a previous incarnation this show was well-received when it was last on NCT’s stage in the 2006-07 season. Music and lyrics for the piece are by Lynn Ahrens, Bob Dorough, Dave Frishberg, Kathy Mandry, George Newall and Tom Yohe from the TV series created by George Newall and Tom Yohe with book by Scott Ferguson, George Keating and Kyle Hall.)
So “Unpack Your Adjectives” and “Do the Circulation” with an energetic cast that includes Janette Bruce, Daniel Collins, Lauren Jones and Ben Van Diepen as the grammatically correct rock stars. The production includes costume design by Patricia Taber as well as set and lighting design by Scott Leathers.
Saturday and Sunday performances are at 2 p.m. until Sunday, Dec. 1. The show runs approximately one hour with a 10-minute intermission. NCT is located at 25 Middleton St. between Hermitage Ave. and Second Ave. S. They are in the Richard Fulton campus directly behind the Old Howard School Building.

SENSORY FRIENDLY PERFORMANCE SATURDAY, NOV. 2 AT 2 P.M.
The theater welcomes all kids and families to our performances, but knows that some families hesitate to bring their children to live theater without knowing how they might react.
The Sensory Friendly performance is designed to be a safe and accepting environment where children with disabilities and their typically developing peers are free to speak and move in reaction to the story being told onstage.
NCT provides a Comfort Room at the back of the theater where audience members can adjust both light and sound levels. This Comfort Room is available at any performance.

About Nashville Children’s Theatre
NCT was founded in 1931 by the Junior League of Nashville and is recognized as the oldest professional children’s theater in the country. A national leader in professional theater arts and education programs for young people, NCT was ranked by TIME magazine as one of the top five children’s theaters in the country.
UPDATE: “Interplanet Janet,” “Rufus Xavier Sarsaparilla,” and “Just A Bill” are only a few of the incredibly popular (and sneakily educational) songs that have sponsorships available for bid on Nashville Children’s Theatre’s (NCT) FIVE DAY online auction.
The auction is a fun way for adults to reminisce about the Saturday mornings of their youth. Proceeds raised through the auction help NCT fund students who cannot afford tickets to attend NCT programs.
The auction is at www.biddingforgood.com/nct/rocks and is now open to the public. It ends on Monday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. CT.
Each song’s winning bidder will be listed in NCT’s Schoolhouse Rock Live! program. No actual physical item is exchanged with this song sponsorship.
Last June, NCT held an online auction that included sponsorship of the Schoolhouse Rock Live! song “Conjunction Junction.” After very heated bidding that sponsorship was sold for over $100. NCT expects the same type of excitement, as 11 different songs are available with this five-day auction.
