Playhouse Nashville Unveils Cast for New ‘SEXTAPE’ Comedy

SEXTAPEPlayhouse Nashville’s upcoming world premiere of Nate Eppler’s new comedy SEXTAPE (& Other Stories) Feb. 28-March 10 in residence at Street Theatre Company has generated plenty of buzz in the creative community. Now we know who will bring the acclaimed Music City playwright’s latest work to life.

The foursome that show director and Playhouse Nashville co-curator Christopher Bosen says “we are very proud to have assembled”  includes Jessejames Locorriere (currently on Cinemax’s Banshee), Jennifer Richmond (who is finishing her work in Chaffin’s Barn Dinner Theatre’s Run For Your Wife this weekend), and real-life husband and wife Megan Murphy Chambers and Jack Chambers.

What’s the basic premise of the adults-only show (no one under 18 will be admitted)? From the troupe’s  teaser: “Newlyweds meet a dead president on the run, a wife finds out what her husband has been building in the basement, a couple decide to watch their best friends’ very private tape, and the morning after a one-night stand the aliens finally arrive in Nate Eppler’s SEXTAPE (& Other Stories). This raucous collection of seven short comedies spins wild and hilarious tales about sex, the way we talk about sex, what we do when we have it and what we do when we don’t.”

Eppler serves as Playwright-in-Residence for the Tennessee Repertory Theatre where he developed 2011 Steinberg/ATCA New Play Award semi-finalist Long Way Down and City of the Dead. The Playhouse Nashville presentation is part of its residency with Street Theatre Company (located at 1933 Elm Hill Pk.) that was announced in September. The group has been best known for creating the well-received Ten Minute Playhouse, which has its next edition April 28-29. Its 2013 season will continue with an as-yet unannounced new play by a local playwright Aug. 1-11 followed by the Ten Minute Haunted House Oct. 13-14.

Tickets are available online for $15 for adults for all performances and $10 for college students with valid ID on Wednesday, March 10 only by clicking here. There is also a $1.50 per seat ticketing fee.

UPDATE: Locorriere has left the cast because of conflicts between the show and  prior acting commitments. Bosen and Wilhelm Peters will now play the roles previously planned for Locorriere.
