FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Boiler Room Theatre’s 13th season kicks off with the side-splitting farce Noises Off. The production runs Feb. 15 through March 9 at the theatre’s venue in the historic Factory at Franklin (230 Franklin Rd., Bldg. Six).
Noises Off, Michael Frayn’s slapstick play-within-a-play, follows the on-and off-stage antics of an acting troupe as they stumble from bumbling dress rehearsal to disastrous closing night. Everything that can go wrong does, as actors desperately try to hang on to their lines, their performances and the furniture. Add a slippery plate of sardines and many slamming doors, and you have the most hilarious backstage farce ever written.
Directing Noises Off is Boiler Room Theatre’s Co-Founder and Managing Director Corbin Green. “This is a show we’ve wanted to produce since we opened the theatre almost 13 years ago and it’s one of the most challenging shows I’ve ever directed,” he says. “Comedy is all about the timing, so it is vital that the director is laser focused on every detail of the show to ensure that every line, every movement, and every prop is in exactly the right place at the right time to get the laugh.”
The cast of Noises Off will play on a free-standing, two-story set. The entire structure will rotate for the second act, allowing the audience to see the play-within-a-play presented from two perspectives – on stage and backstage.
“This show is going to be spectacular because of the amazing cast and production team that we’ve assembled,” Green notes. “The level of talent we have involved in this show is unbelievable – it is such a funny and creative mix of people. The chemistry on stage and off is going to make this show an absolute must see.”
The ensemble cast features Matt Baugher (Frederick Fellowes), Britt Byrd (Brooke Ashton), Laura Crockarell (Belinda Blair), Flynt Foster (Garry Lejeune), Taylor Green (Poppy Norton-Taylor), Patrick Kramer (Lloyd Dallas), Josh Lowrey (Tim Allgood), Wesley Payne (Dotty Otley) and Dan Zeigler (Selsdon Mowbray). Joining Green on the production team for Noises Off will be Anthony Popolo (Set Design) and Katie Delaney (Costume Design).
Performances are every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday evening during the run at 8 p.m. There will be a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. on Feb. 24 and one Thrifty Thursday show at 8 p.m. on March 7. Tickets are $27 for adults, $25 for seniors (age 60 and up) and students (age 13 through college with valid ID) as well as $21 for children ages 3 through 12. Matinee prices are $2 less respectively.
