‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ Ready to Hit Street’s In Concert Series

jcs promo 1Street Theatre Company brings the classic rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar to musical life as part of its acclaimed In Concert series beginning this Friday. The beloved theatrical brainchild of composer Andrew Lloyd Webber (with lyrics from Tim Rice) tells the well-known Gospel story from the unique perspective of Judas Iscariot and explores the human side of Jesus’ agonizing journey to Golgotha.

Artistic Director Cathy Street, who also directs the show, has cast highly-regarded performers from Nashville’s incredibly talented pool: The show stars Randy Craft in the title role with Jimmy Saiz as Judas and Erica Lee Haines as Mary. The three-weekends-only production features cherished tunes such as “Everything’s Alright,” “I Don’t Know How to Love Him,” and “Superstar,” led by musical director Rollie Mains and a six-piece band.

Jesus Christ Superstar runs at Street Theatre Company (1933 Elm Hill Pike) Friday through Sept. 14, with special performances at Holy Trinity Church (6727 Charlotte Ave.) on Sept. 19 and 20. Tickets range from $18 to $24 with a pay-what-you-can option on Sundays. For more information and to purchase tickets click here or call (615) 554-7414.
