Tennessee Repertory Theatre’s 2013-2014 Ingram New Works Fellow is Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Doug Wright.
The announcement of next season’s fellow came Saturday during a workshop showcase of Nate Eppler’s Larries that will have its world premiere Sept. 7-21 (with previews Sept. 5-6) at Tennessee Performing Arts Center’s Johnson Theater.
Wright won those awards for I Am My Own Wife in 2004. Among his other credits are the 1995 play Quills and the book for the 2006 musical Grey Gardens.
The Martha R. Ingram New Works Project was created by Tennessee Rep with the support of co-founder Martha R. Ingram to provide an opportunity for theater artists to develop new works while in residency with the professional troupe. Wright joins a prestigious list of fellows that includes Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winner David Auburn (The Columnist), Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winner John Patrick Shanley (Storefront Church), Steven Dietz (Rancho Mirage), and Theresa Rebeck (Fever).
