Pictorial: ‘Secret Handshake’ Films at Lipscomb University

The Secret Handshake is filming in and around Nashville. Lipscomb University is one of the movie’s locations, and ArtsNash as well as other press representatives (like Super Talk 99.7 WTN’s Phil Valentine, who is in the film) were invited to meet cast and crew and catch a glimpse of them working on the new feature.

Kevin Sorbo (Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Andromeda) leads an ensemble cast directed by Music City native Howie Klausner (Space Cowboys and Soul Surfer) and produced by Tim Brown (The Grace Card and The Identical). Klausner, who describes the movie as “a story of men and boys on a journey from Suburbia to the Deep Dark Woods, and back again – with adventure, laughter and maybe a even a tear or two,” and Brown have served as Lipscomb film and creative media program advisers since early last year. This production is serving as a “laboratory” for Lipscomb’s film and creative media students, and Klausner and Brown believe the partnership is a natural connection for Lipscomb and Town Square Pictures, according to a press release from the university. Mike Fernandez directs Lipscomb’s film and creative media graduate program as well as serving as the university’s theater department chair.

The Secret Handshake is set for release in theaters this fall and will also be available on DVD. Check out www.lipscomb.edu/theater or www.thesecrethandshakemovie.com for more information.
