The Belmont Theatre and Dance Department has arranged quite a treat for lovers of dance and movies: on Oct. 24 and 25 Patricia Ward Kelly, Gene Kelly’s wife and biographer, will take Troutt Theater guests behind the scenes to share an intimate portrait of the man that changed the look of dance on film forever and became a beloved worldwide star.
Gene Kelly: The Legacy is a unique live performance, blending film clips, rare audio recordings and personal stories that has been called an “imperishable pleasure” by The New York Times and “a real treat” by Variety. A newspaper in his native city, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, had this to say: “And we thought we knew Gene Kelly.”
In the Troutt the Friday, Oct. 24 performance is at 7:30 p.m. while the Saturday, Oct. 25 show is at 2 p.m. Tickets (General Admission $30, Faculty, Staff, Alumni $15, Students $10 (Belmont students get in free on Oct. 25 only) are available online or by calling the Belmont Box Office at (615) 460-8501.
